Accessibility

The nearest village of Entrechaux is well within walking distance, only 1.5 km (about a mile) down the hill (bear in mind that means it’s a mile back up the hill to get home).

Entrechaux offers everything you need in terms of amenities: plenty of cozy food spots,  a post office, a bakery, a mini-market with a butcher, catering service and fresh produce.

For the bigger Supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl, Super U and Intermarché) or medical supplies, you'll have to go to Vaison-la-Romaine or Malaucène both about 8km/5miles down the road.

There is a wide choice of restaurants and pizzerias in the surrounding villages.

 

Avignon train station (TGV) is at 50 min drive away (55 km / 35 miles) and has regular services to Paris, Geneva and Lyon. 


Marseille international airport
is 120 km / 80 miles away.

Montpellier is also a good option at only 140 km / 90 miles away.

There is also a smaller airport in, Nimes  which is only 85 km / 53 miles away.

Sports

The Ventoux area is synonymous with cycling - and for good reason! Road cyclists and mountain bikers of all abilities will find an amazing variety of routes right on their doorstep. Whether you’re looking for a real challenge or a way to immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery on two wheels, there’s something for everyone.


But this isn’t just a playground for cyclists.
Hikers, joggers and trail runners can also find a real treasure trove of choices for day-long expeditions or shorter outings. From the gorges de la Nesque and the gorges of the Toulourenc to, les Dentelles de Montmirailles and the Baronnies, there is so much to explore!.


Is climbing your thing? Great news! A 10-minute walk takes you to the natural climbing wall of the gorges des Trois Rivières, and a 15 minute car ride will take you tos on the cliffs of St Légér du Ventoux and Buis les Baronnies, - an adrenaline rush guaranteed!

In summer, you can go horse-back riding at the ranch of les Trois Rivières (within walking distance) or in Vaison la Romaine at le Palis.   


Looking for a refreshing splash in a river? Feel free to take a dip in the Ouvèze or the Toulourenc rivers, both only 1.5 km (1 mile) away.



Gastronomy and wine

Entrechaux has 4 beautiful wineries, all worth visiting for a degustation; Oncle Ernest (organic wines), Champ-Long, Talès, Le Mas Flauzières. Those wanting to taste more wines are spoiled for choice, just to name a few; Vaison la Romaine, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaume de Venise, and of course Châteauneuf du Pape.

Every day of the week there is a provençal market in some neighboring village with local products and artisan objects. On Wednesday morning in Malaucène and Buis les Baronnies, on Tuesday and Saturday morning in Vaison-La-Romaine. On Mondays in Bedoin.

During the winter period, the truffle market in Richerenches and the olive market in Nyons are recommended.


Culture

If you are more in search of culture, dive into history during a visit to the Gallo-Roman excavations in Vaison la Romaine. Or visit the magnificent amphitheater in Orange. And of course, there is also the famous Avignon bridge, 'Palais des Pâpes' and theatre festival.


Kids

For the kids, the adventure park 'Parc Avonture Oxygene' in Vaison la Romaine is certainly worthwhile. Or why not experience a day of crazy water fun at Wave Island in Avignon, or would you rather opt for the Spirou theme park, just next to the Wave island?
